Zoot Suit Riot– In the 1930’s and 40’s nothing said style like a Zoot Suit. Originated by young Hispanic men, a low crowned wide brimmed hat, a wide collared shirt, a long coat with wide shoulders and of course, suspenders, these Zoot Suits were worn like a badge of honor. Before you knew it, all of American society jumped on the Zoot Suit band wagon.
Zoot Suit Riot is a celebration of the style, the dance, the music and the history that inspired an entire generation. The production features music by Cab Calloway, The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, The Atomic Fireballs, The Royal Crown Revue, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Lalo Guerrero, Tin Tan, and many others.
This show is a proven hit with audiences from the traditional Broadway patron to the Hispanic audience and the neo-swing/rockabilly audience. This year join the party and “Put on a Zoot Suit.”
